How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming

ok i am persuaded that pluto shouldn’t be called a planet
fun and easy read, def rereading this one when i’m ill / experiencing migraine
antagonists (actually there really is just One) are/is kind of silly and funny
love the name Eris + backstory
the idea of the sun as a child makes me tear up
was it quaoar’s? whose weak gravity couldn’t hold its methane, and reading the line about how we’re seeing the last of it made me emotional. i think because i think of these things outside of earth as millions of years old and well, eternal. it breaks my heart to know that something that was (even for millions of years!) will not always be.
what do you mean one of the most distant objects we can see in our solar system, sedna, is not actually at its farthest point in its orbit? that it’s going to take 11k years for it to go off on its elongated orbit and come back again?
word “planet” from the ancient Greek planētes, meaning “wanderers,” as they appeared to move across the night sky also makes me so emotional because sheila (bng) is a planet, and it’s the first time i’m thinking of her alone and wandering. i hope she has moons to keep her company.
